Corduroy is widely popular, but very little of it is currently produced in Japan. Among the producing regions, Enshu is a rare one, once known as a hub for "corduroy" production.
This fabric is characterized by its warmth, created by air trapped in the corduroy's ridges, and its rich texture, achieved through a unique processing method. Through repeated kneading and washing with hot water and groundwater, the fabric gains a soft, plush feel. Furthermore, the nap is refined by singeing, resulting in a smooth finish with a natural texture.
