The denim used is 100% woven in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, one of Japan's leading denim production areas, which has developed based on the indigo dyeing and weaving techniques cultivated from the Edo to Meiji periods.
Each production lot produces differences in color, texture, and fabric width. We purchase various scraps that reflect the production background of the time, process each piece individually, combine them, and reconstruct them into pants by hand. This is a one-of-a-kind item.
First, it is finely stitched vertically with true indigo sashiko thread, then each piece is connected to form a single fabric. After that, the borders of each piece are stitched with ecru sashiko thread, finishing it with both reinforcement and decoration.
For the belt, we use denim woven in Fukuyama City, which is a 7/1 twill with a loose yarn twist, giving it a plump texture and softness.
All sashiko stitching is done by hand, and the traces of this handwork are strongly evident throughout, both on the front and back.
Based on the idea that "the future is always nostalgic, and the past is always new," TMMY sublimates and expresses the traditional sashiko technique and the work of artisans and production areas throughout Japan, who continue to preserve and evolve their techniques, through clothing production.
